Cookie Policy
Last updated 1 October 2026
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. CollabTab sets a handful, listed below in full. There are no advertising cookies and nothing here is shared with ad networks.
The cookies we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token | Keeps you signed in. | Essential | 30 days |
| better-auth.session_data | Caches your session for five minutes so pages load without a database round trip. | Essential | 5 minutes |
| collabtab_oauth_state | Protects the "link a channel" flow against forged callbacks. | Essential | 10 minutes |
| ct_invite | Remembers which invite link brought you here, so the two of you can be matched. | Functional | 30 days |
| ct_consent | Remembers your cookie choice. | Essential | 12 months |
| ph_* (PostHog) | Product analytics: which pages are visited and which features are used. Set only if you accept analytics cookies. | Analytics | 12 months |
Essential and functional cookies
Essential cookies are the ones the service cannot work without: the one that keeps you signed in, the one that protects the channel-linking flow, and the one that remembers your cookie choice. They are set without asking, because there is no version of the service that works without them. The invite cookie is functional: it only exists if you arrive through somebody’s invite link, and it does nothing except make sure the two of you are matched.
Analytics cookies
With your permission, PostHog sets cookies so we can see which pages are visited and which features are used, and improve the product accordingly. We do not record sessions, do not send your messages or your swipes to the browser-side analytics, and honour the Global Privacy Control signal as a refusal. If you refuse, no analytics cookie is ever set and no browser-side analytics runs.
Separately, the server records product events (a sign-up, a match, a subscription) against your account ID to run the service. That is described in the Privacy Policy and involves no cookies.
Changing your choice
You can change your answer at any time. The banner will ask again.
You can also delete cookies in your browser settings. Deleting the sign-in cookie signs you out; deleting the consent cookie brings the banner back.
